Bells so ap-peeling
IT was music to our ears and emphasised that all the effort that went into raising the money to refurbish the bell tower was so worthwhile when the church bells rang out on that Monday morning.
This was no ordinary late June day because a group of dedicated bell ringers led by the renowned Sue Smith of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers gave us a full peel – all two hours and 40 minutes of it. Word is this is only the third time in the history of our church that a full peel has been rung here.
Wonderful it was to hear amid the summer sunshine and a big vote of thanks to the skill and stamina of the ringers for their marathon performance. Let's hope it won't be too long before they grace us again.
