Fete a roaring success

THE weather was overcast but Alina Jenkins added sunshine to our annual fete in the picturesque grounds of Gussage House.

The BBC television and radio personality opened the afternoon in the grounds of Gussage House praising the event as her favourite village fete. Over 400 people attended raising a magnificent £3,906 after expenses which will be divided between All Saints church and the village hall.

Fete co-ordinators Bob and Wendy McCarthy thanked everyone for making the event such a great success and especially Brian and Jenny Stannah for once more allowing us to use their lovely garden as the venue.

The McCarthys said: “We made slightly less than last year but had competition from the Wimbledon ladies' final and less than perfect weather.” After several summers at the hub of the fete they have passed the baton as co-ordinators to David Crossley, Di Trott and Jane Ward adding: “They will need your help and we are sure will make it even more entertaining for you and the visitors.”
