Music lovers' month

OCTOBER is a musical month in the village with two different but highly entertaining evenings for locals and visitors alike.

First up is the popular trad jazz night in the village hall with our 'resident band' the Sunset Cafe Stompers on Saturday, October 14, starting at 7pm. The guys say this is one of the most enjoyable gigs they play at – and we know how many of us love it as it's always a sell-out because not only can you toe-tap your way through the evening to the music but there's also a delicious two-course supper served and prepared by the Gussage Gourmets – all for £15.

Tickets are selling fast, so to buy yours contact either Sandra Rummery (01258 840007) or Patricia Briers (01258 841173). Bring your own wine etc.

Two weeks later on October 28 at 7.30 the church is the venue for a musical soiree with local professional musicians who will include works by Bach, Mozart and Gustav Holst. As the acoustics in the church are particularly good this should be an event to savour – and it's all for a worthy cause as proceeds go to the fund to provide disabled toilets at The Drovers Inn.

Tickets are just £10 to include drinks and canapes from Justin and Jane Ward (01258 840687).
